Toledo is known for its game dishes, especially the wild partridge, as well as its traditional Castilian cuisine such as roasted peppers and, of course, its marzipan desserts. Here we organized the restaurants mainly by price range.

High-end

The Hostal del Cardenal is the best restaurant in town, famous for its regional dishes. See hotels.

The Asador Adolfo is one of the best restaurants in town, and perhaps the only one that can compete with the Hostal del Cardenal. It also specializes in traditional game dishes and is located near the cathedral.

The Cas—n de los L—pez serves traditional Castilian food and feels like eating in a museum. An antique building furnished with antiques, some from the 16th century, one is almost afraid that the custodian will come back and take your chair away. It is located near the Plaza Zocodover.

La Abad’a used to be a cerveceria, a traditional bar-tavern. It is hard to beat for an American-sized meal a la castellana, or simply tapas. It is located near the San Nicol‡s church.

Inexpensive

El Catavinos serves traditional Spanish and Castilian cuisine. As its name indicates, it was once a wine cellar. It is located about 10 minutes walking away from the Puerta de Bisagra. It has a terrace on which the diners eat in pleasant weather. The menœ de degustaci—n is designed so as to give the tourist the chance to try it all: with a mix of seven different plates, each accompanied by a different wine.

La Perdiz is located in the center of the old Jewish ghetto. With its two floors, it offers some nice views of the historic district. It is known for its 'perdiz estofada a la toledana', or stewed partridge, and its marzipan dessert with almond biscuits.

La Tarasca serves good traditional Castilian food, but its main attraction is its convenient location, just a few blocks from the cathedral. It is open throughout the day, even serving breakfast. Try the 'pimientos rellenos'(stuffed red peppers) or the 'cordoniz a la toledana'(stewed quail)

At La Boveda on the Calle de Torner’as, raciones are only 2-4 Euros.

El TrŽbol serves raciones for 4 Euros. Try the 'bombas' (potatoes stuffed with minced meat.)
