Where to Stay in Toledo
Toledo offers a wide range of accommodations, from castles half an hour away from the city, to rooms overlooking the Plaza Zocodover. For the affluent, it's hard to beat the splendor of a Parador, but backpacking students can enjoy the Toledo atmosphere for as little as 12 Euros a night. High-end
 In 1911, the MarquŽs de la Vega Incl‡n realized that the accommodation options for visitors to Spain were remarkably poor and did not properly reflect, as he saw it, the grandeur of his country. Accordingly, with the support of the King, Alfonso XIII, he began to look for historic monuments (castles, monasteries, convents, palaces, abandoned churches and the like) with an eye to converting them into luxurious hotels. Today the Spanish Paradores are a byword for historical atmosphere and absolute luxury. Toledo's is said to be built on the location where El Greco painted his famous "View of Toledo". Although a part of an international hotel chain, this is undeniably the only hotel in Toledo to give the Parador a run for its money in terms of luxury.

 Long famous for being the best restaurant in Toledo, it's not well known that the charming Hostal del Cardenal also offers lodging. With a charming old-Toledo feel, outstanding food, and the advantages of being both cheaper and closer than the Parador, this Hostal may be less grand but we think you'd agree that it makes a more than serviceable second choice.

Student-Style
 This is the city's main student hostel, located in a castle, San Servando where El Cid supposedly spent the night praying before going before the king to demand revenge for what the princes of Carri—n had done to his daughters. Shared bathrooms and the price includes breakfast, but if you want to stay here you'll need a YH card.
