Where to Stay in Toledo

Toledo offers a wide range of accommodations, from castles half an hour away from the city, to rooms overlooking the Plaza Zocodover. For the affluent, it's hard to beat the splendor of a Parador, but backpacking students can enjoy the Toledo atmosphere for as little as 12 Euros a night. Here is a brief list of various hotels and hostels in Toledo, with phone numbers and links where available.

High-end

Parador

Toledo ParadorIn 1911, the MarquŽs de la Vega Incl‡n realized that the accommodation options for visitors to Spain were remarkably poor and did not properly reflect, as he saw it, the grandeur of his country. Accordingly, with the support of the King, Alfonso XIII, he began to look for historic monuments (castles, monasteries, convents, palaces, abandoned churches and the like) with an eye to converting them into luxurious hotels. Today the Spanish Paradores are a byword for historical atmosphere and absolute luxury. Toledo's is said to be built on the location where El Greco painted his famous "View of Toledo". Hostal del Cardenal
